We have a mission statement that acts as our guide as we go through the year. Here it is:
- Creating a welcoming, sustainable environment where people of the community are heard, honoured, and can be involved.
It’s a statement that reflects our commitment to manaakitanga and hauora – welcome and wellbeing. every person matters and every person plays a vital role in our community.
One of the things that helps with sustainability is consistent funding. In Kirikiriroa, Hamilton we are very fortunate to have a number of committed funders who support this house and many others.
Lotteries Commission
Hamilton City Council
Trust Waikato
WEL Energy Trust
SkyCity Community Trust
DV Bryant
COGs
The Tindall Foundation
Hamilton East Lions Club
Another thing that we’re very grateful for is the partnerships we have with other community organisations that help us do what we do. Go Eco is a key partner for us. They pick up the rescue food that we distribute to those who need it. They also provide us with our Community Garden coordinator, Michael! Sustainability is a word that also reflects our commitment to the environment and helping others to care also.
One way to get involved at the house is to join a Community Education class. We offer Te Reo Māori for Beginners (term 3), Sewing, Craft and Yoga. We can also give you the details for Sahaja Yoga and Bollywood Dancing.
You can also come to one of the events we have at the house. There’s a Crop Swap on the 3rd Saturday of every month. The next one is June 21. Clothing Swaps happen 4 times a year (August for the next one). Details in the poster below.
Our Matariki BBQ will happen again on June 17. Remember to follow us on Facebook so you keep up with the latest news.
Ngaa mihi nui
Rob
